Security Guard Is Praised For Protecting A Dog With An Umbrella In The Rain
In Giffnock, Scotland (UK), a grocery chain’s security guard received praise for a heroic effort. When he was seen carrying an umbrella over a dog outside of the supermarkets to shelter him from the rain, Ethan Dearman was working outside the stores.
A Glasgow tattoo artist named Mel Gracie, who just so happened to be there, decided to take a picture of the man in action and share it on Twitter. She wrote:
Give this security guard from @Morrisons a wave of credit for keeping this wonderful boy dry. You never know how a dog will react to rain.
The article received a lot of feedback, and it rapidly gathered up over 146,000 likes and over 19,000 retweets. Users of the social network complimented the guard’s behavior with Freddy, a golden retriever, and said that he deserved reward for his endearing response.
Thanks to security man @dearmanethan for putting the umbrella over Freddie when it started to rain! So kind! He’s always so nice to my brother Stuart, my Dad and our Freddie! Here’s Freddie when he was a puppy! pic.twitter.com/TJuX41ozFE

According to a Morrisons grocery chain spokeswoman, LADbible:
“We’ve given out 9,000 Morrisons umbrellas to keep our customers and their pets dry as it’s likely to be a rainy week. It’s encouraging to see that it has already occurred in our Giffnock shop.”
Ethan shared and left a remark on the Twitter post after seeing her picture and how well-known her gesture had become:
“I never anticipated having such a big Twitter following. I was aware that I was making people smile, but this is totally different, haha.”
