Now here’s a heartwarming story. A New Zealand vet clinic found a box of kittens dumped at their front door. Inside the box was three male kittens and one girl of 3 to 4 weeks old. “Of course, we all fell in love with them and vet nurse Nicole took them home to care for them overnight,” Mill Road Vet Clinic wrote on Facebook.
The next morning they noticed a tabby cat hanging around their front door, trying to sneak in every time a client arrived. When they realized she wasn’t going to go away they picked her up and discovered she was a “feeding Mum”.
“Then the penny dropped!” they wrote. “Sure enough, we introduced her to the ‘orphan’ kittens and there was a very happy reunion! Presumably she had been in the box too and escaped before we arrived for work. She’s probably been prowling around all night looking for her kidnapped kittens!”
For now the mom and her kittens are being fostered by a family member of one of their staff who lost their cat a while ago. When they are ready, they will find homes for them all.
“Mum and kittens are all completely adorable, so hopefully it won’t be difficult,” Mills Road Vet Clinic writes. Given that the family reunion has gone viral, I don’t think they’ll have any trouble finding all of them wonderful homes!
