Creating A Snow Mountain In The Family’s Garden Allows The Dog To Have One Last Snowball Fight

An cute St. Bernard/Newfoundland hybrid named Maggie was made to live on a snowy mountain. She has always sought out the coldest spot in the home for her naps and hangouts since she was a little puppy. When her parents decided to take her along on a family excursion for the entire weekend, the cute little puppy had been ill for a few months.

They treated her to her favorite meals and gave her stomach rubs while pampering her with activities like camping and paddling. Although her family recalls that Maggie returned “happily exhausted,” her parents also wanted to give her the chance to savor the sensation of snow on her paws, which had always brought her such delight.

Maggie’s father, Elijah Saltzgaber, stated to The Dodo:

She liked to lay in the shower or on the basement concrete when she was a puppy. Winter was always her favorite season for comfort.

Maggie’s parents started making plans for how to spend the remaining time as soon as they learned the devastating news that Maggie had cancer. Since a couple years ago, Maggie has joined Elijah and his wife on all of their outdoor outings.

She loved to walk, went skiing in the winter, and paddleboarded with her mother in the summer.

Maggie’s mother, Marianna Wilson, relates:

She would tumble on her back and slide in the snow as a 120-pound dog. It was really entertaining to watch a dog get so excited about playing in the snow.

Because our life practically revolved around her and our vacations revolved around her, I can’t even begin to count the days when she wasn’t my shadow. between the time we get up and the time we go to bed. And we didn’t take it lightly; in order to give her the life she deserved, we also improved our own lives in the process.

When it was time to part, her family planned a lengthy camping excursion with Maggie. However, they were aware that there was no snow because Maggie had always had heat exhaustion and appeared to be more susceptible to temperature changes since being diagnosed with cancer.

Elijah recalls:

“[We] tried to make everything as simple and pleasant for her as we could, so I remember thinking, ‘Man, those snow machines. If we had to rent one of them, I wonder how much snow they could shovel. So I made a quick internet post, and that’s when he started to panic.

According to Elijah, there was a significant response from the community, with hundreds of proposals and many individuals volunteering to bring their own little snow cone makers and have a snow-making party. One woman even volunteered to use a hammer to shatter ice blocks for them.

In addition, a number of eateries, cafés, and coffee shops volunteered to give Maggie all the ice cubes they had in their coolers.
