Student Begs Professor To Let Her Bring Her Dog To Class Before The Hurricane

Jessica Lewis and her dog, Luna, opted to escape their college town and go home to Lewis’ family in Atlanta as Hurricane Irma approached. Classes were canceled in preparation of the storm, but Lewis had one more session to attend before the two could go.

Lewis felt that the best way to save time was to bring Luna to her last class with her so that they could leave right after — but first, she needed to ask her professor whether it was okay.

Lewis had no clue how her professor would respond if she brought Luna to class, so she sent him a long, thoughtful email pleading with him to allow her bring Luna to class. She also attached a few photos of Luna in the hopes that her cute face would persuade him.

Lewis awaited her professor’s response with bated breath, and when he eventually wrote her back…

…she was startled and happy to discover that she had nothing to be concerned about.

Lewis’ professor wrote, “Did you think calling me ‘cool’ would persuade me to say yes?” “Because it’s not going to work.” What will work is that she’s clearly a nice girl, so you may bring her.”

Lewis’ lecturer, it turns out, is a major dog lover who was delighted to welcome Luna to his final session before the hurricane. Luna’s presence pleased the rest of the class, and she was a great, attentive student for the entire hour and 15 minutes.

Lewis told The Dodo, “She was very well-behaved in class.” “For the most part, she went right to whoever was speaking, as though they were replying or asking a question.” I just wandered about and collected pets from everyone, as well as making new acquaintances. The most amusing aspect was that she moaned loudly like she was replying every time the professor paused to ask if anybody had any questions or remarks. It was hysterical.”

Despite the fact that Luna was a tad distracted in class…

…no one appeared to mind in the least, and everyone, especially the professor, seemed to like having her around.

“He was ecstatic to have her and had no complaints,” Lewis added. “He was fantastic about it; everytime she did something hilarious, he simply laughed with us.”

Luna enjoyed the lesson as much as everyone else did, and she was disappointed when it ended and she and her mother had to begin their road journey home before the storm hit.
