Woman Uses Old Boxes To Build Amazing House For Her Cats

Huckleberry and Floyd are great buddies who are incredibly active and extroverted. They’ve been inseparable since the day they met, and they spend their days causing havoc in their home as their mother attempts to keep up.

“Every day, things are knocked over, things are damaged, and they simply adore playing,” the pair’s mother, Gentry Sanders, told The Dodo.

Floyd and Huckleberry have a variety of toys, but their favorite is cardboard boxes. When their mother receives a shipment, she always makes sure to deliver it to them in the box it came in, and they enjoy spending hours in it. Sanders is a graphic designer and a natural artist, and witnessing how much her sons enjoy boxes inspired her to make a house out of them.

Sanders explained, “I assumed I could just utilize the boxes to make something lovely because they were usually lying out in my house.” “I adore mid-century design and thought to myself, ‘Why not a mid-century home?'”

Sanders has a lot of experience designing and building DIY projects, so she gathered her supplies and set to work creating the cat housing right away. She even documented the process on her blog so that others may follow in her footsteps. She spent a whole weekend putting everything together, and her cats were on hand to keep an eye on things.

Sanders explained, “I can’t do anything in my house without them being engaged.” “They enjoyed cutting the cardboard because they were able to lie down on it and devour it. Surprisingly, they left me alone while I painted, although I did so on purpose during their afternoon sleep.”

Sanders was terrified that her cats would turn their noses up at the house and demand their plain old boxes back when she put the final touches on it. She hesitantly handed them the completed project…

… and they absolutely loved it.

“They were all over it right away,” Sanders recalled, “and Floyd placed his catnip banana inside and started munching on it.”

Huckleberry and Floyd are overjoyed with their new cat home, which provides them with a private space where they can hang out and play together. The thrill of their new home hasn’t worn off with the passage of time, and they still adore it as much as they did when they first moved in.
