Two Broken Legs, Nose Bound Shut With Band – 5 Month Old Puppy Recovering After Abuse

Five-month-old Kane was under 11 pounds, his hind legs broken and obvious trauma to his snout and teeth when he was found.

Immediately taken to Butterfield Animal Hospital, the veterinarians not only gave him the best care, they also generously discounted the tremendous cost of his treatment. Kane is THRIVING after having major surgery to place rods in his legs.

This little guy loves to cuddle and play with his other buddies (including Jersey who’s just had similar leg surgery) while on his 6 week recovery stay at Ranch Dog Rescue in Temecula, CA.

Next up is physical therapy for Kane and then he’ll be merrily on his way to his new home. Kane was adopted on the 2nd day he arrived to the ranch. His furever family have experience in dealing with animals with special needs and are delighted to be able to give this guy the home he deserves. Kane was saved from Camp Pendleton Marine base. In what treating veterinarians described as a case of “severe abuse” and “neglect” the puppy’s former owners claim the trauma to his back legs was as an “accident”.

It’s believed his muzzle was bound shut with rubber bands making it impossible for him to drink, eat or pant. Kane An investigation is being conducted by Camp Pendleton.

It’s believed that a husband, wife and possibly other members of the marines were involved in this incident. The camp has stated that once they have wrapped up their investigation they will advise the public as to what “action was taken”.

Ranch Dog Rescue is encouraged that the investigation is ongoing. They have posted regular updates on their facebook page and are advising not to “pay attention to rumors and hearse” and promise to post news as it become available. Ranch Dog Rescue is incredibly thankful for the outpouring of support, love, monetary donations and supplies provided. In a short while #RaisingKane was a hashtag spread around the world.
