Puppy Is Rescued After Being Left on a Bench in Mexico with a Handwritten Note: ‘He’s a Sweetheart’

After learning that a 7-month-old dog had been abandoned on a park bench, a Mexican animal sanctuary raced to her rescue.

Marcela Goldberg, who operates local shelter Mascotas Coyoacán, arrived on the scene on Nov. 22 after hearing about the dog in need. She found the puppy tethered to a seat with a handwritten message.

According to The Dodo, the letter said, “It pains a lot to leave my dog here, but I took the decision to leave him since my family used to abuse him and it would constantly upset me to see him in that condition.” “Please adopt him and take excellent care of him if you’re reading this and your heart is hurting.” If not, please replace it with this remark. Others will be able to read it and adopt him. “Thank you very much.”

When Goldberg approached him, the dog shook, and even the smell of food didn’t calm him down or divert him. “I donned protective gloves to give me more confidence while approaching, but it was still difficult,” Goldberg added. “We called an aggressive dog trainer who filmed the incident and gave me advice until we were able to pass the loop [over his head] and cut the other chain.

The dog’s attitude altered as soon as the chain was cut. He was still terrified, but he didn’t growl at his rescuers any more. In the car, Goldberg gradually began to pet him, and the puppy had calmed down by the time they arrived at the shelter.

Boston, the 7-month-old puppy, is slowly learning to trust people and letting his joyful nature come through.

“He is lovely and friendly, and he adores giving kisses and playing with the ball that the veterinarian gave him,” Goldberg added.

Boston has changed into a completely different dog just a few days after his rescue. His rescuers are now looking over adoption applications to make sure he goes to the greatest home possible, one where he will never have to worry about anything again.
